My New Blog Design + Five on Friday

Happy Friday everyone!

Things have been a little quiet in terms of posts this week...but as you can see there have been some pretty big changes around herel...I'm so excited to finally share my new blog design with you!

In edition to debuting my new design today, I thought I'd also kill two birds with one stone and join in for the Five on Friday link-up. That way I can tell you all about my blog's new look along with sharing some other randomness here at the end of the week. Here goes!

1. New Blog Design/URL/Facebook Page
I have been wanting to give my blog a makeover for awhile now, and our recent move seemed like the perfect time to go for it. In the past, I've always been hesitant to make my design tied to where live in any way because I knew that we most likely be moving. But now that we're living in Portland and hoping to be here long term, I really liked the idea of incorporating something to do with that into my design. I'm also looking forward to posting more things like restaurant reviews (I already have at least five places to share!) in the future, and I wanted to make that content easier to access. I knew I wanted a design that was clean and modern, while still fitting with my personality. I started researching designers and came across Ashley Ella Designs through Etsy and decided to go for it!
Ashley has been amazing to work with and I've been very impressed with her throughout the process. I sent her a Pinterest board with the overall aesthetic I was looking for and she captured my vision perfectly! I'm a huge fan of the aesthetic of Rifle Paper Co. and really liked the idea of incorporating some of those modern vintage floral elements into my new design, especially because I decided I wanted to incorporate one of Portland's nicknames (The City of Roses, in case you didn't figure that out) into my tagline. Ashley did an excellent job of bringing what I envisioned to life and she was incredibly fast with any changes/revisions I requested. Plus, she somehow managed to put up with my crazy detailed OCD emails and trust me, that's saying something! I'm so pleased with how the design came out, and I would highly recommend her if you're looking for a new designer!

in addition to the new design I finally decided to make a Facebook page for my blog as well! I know I follow a lot of my favorite blogs on Facebook, and it makes it easier to keep up with their new posts so I figured it might be a good idea to jump on the bandwagon. I would just love it if you could "Like" In the Pink and Green on Facebook for me! {click here} My blog is still somewhat of a work in progress as I am planning on adding some additional content to certain pages on my navigation bar/sidebar, so liking my page on Facebook is a great way to keep up with those updates!

Last but not least, with all these changes I decided it was high time to update my URL as well!
You can now find my blog at:
www.inthepinkandgreen.com
(www.inthepinkandgreen.blogspot.com will still work too though!)

I truly appreciate each and every one of you that reads my blog, and I'm very excited that I now have such a pretty space to share my words and photos as we settle into our new city!

Now onto some other slightly less exciting, but still fun things I wanted to share...

2. Luna & Larry's Organic Cafe Latte Coconut Bliss Bars
 I've talked about the Dark Chocolate version of these bars on my blog/Instagram before, but I recently discovered a new flavor that is so so good! I snapped up a box at Whole Foods the other day, and I think it must be a newer flavor as it's not listed on their website. These bars are so creamy and the flavors of coconut and coffee blend surprisingly well together. They're organic, made with fair trade ingredients, and because they're non-dairy they are a great Paleo (and vegan) alternative to traditional ice cream. They are seriously the perfect after-dinner sweet indulgence that's not filled with a bunch of weird chemicals/additives! Definitely check 'em out!

I am just loving this colorful cotton pajama set I picked up at Target a few weeks ago. The bright floral pattern is a little loud, but I think it's so pretty! Since we're staying at Cam's parents' house right now, I figured a new pair of PJs might be in order instead of constantly coming down for breakfast in my old, mismatched sweats (although who am I kidding, I still do that too). I tend to get cold pretty easily (plus Cam's parents usually keep their house on the cool side) so love that these PJs have pants/long sleeves to keep me warm, yet they're lightweight enough that I don't too hot while I'm sleeping. Plus, as evidenced by my new design I am loving all things floral lately and just think these pajamas are fun!
 (Because the are 100% cotton they will shrink in the dryer...just FYI!)

4. New apartment update
I mentioned last week that we did find an apartment in Portland (yipee)! We are currently living with Cam's parents but move into our place downtown in two weeks and I'm looking forward to getting settled in! Unlike our rental house in Tahoe, this apartment is very modern and I'm excited not to have to try and decorate around things like 1970's wood paneling! We aren't going to have a ton of space though, so I really want to make the most of the room we have by only incorporating pieces that we love. We actually ordered a new couch this past weekend (and it's made in Oregon, as it says in the Instagram above) and I can't wait for it to be delivered next month. (It's not the color/fabric in the photo above though, just FYI) Now I'm on the hunt for a few additional items including a dresser, a rug, a coffee table, pillows, and a headboard. I'm hoping that we'll be able to complete a few DIY projects to check some of those items off the list, so if you have any DIY ideas you've tried and loved let me know!

5. Oregon Brewers Festival
When people think of Portland, they often think of great breweries and it's definitely a big part of the culture here. July is actually Craft Beer Month in Oregon and this weekend there is a big beer festival down by the waterfront featuring over 80 different craft beers. Apparently the festival is pretty big deal and gets quite busy, but Cameron and I are looking forward to checking it out! Follow me on Instagram (@inthepinkandgreen) to keep up with us as we imbibe and celebrate summer in our new city! :)

Be sure to let me know if you're also joining in the fun for the Five on Friday Linkup today as I always love reading everyone's list posts! Also, don't forget to like my Facebook page and grab one of my beautiful new buttons on my sidebar! Have a great weekend everyone! Xoxo

{Epic} What I'm Loving Wednesday

Happy Hump Day everyone! The sun is shining here in Lake Tahoe and I love how it's starting to feel like summer. I haven't linked up with Jamie for WILW in awhile, so I thought today would be the perfect opportunity to share a bunch of big and small things that are making me happy right now.
via
 :: Michigan ::
We are leaving for the mitten state at the end of this month and I am seriously counting down the days! I haven't been back to Michigan since Christmas, so I'm so excited to go home. We're taking a red-eye from Reno to Detroit and are going to have a jam-packed schedule (all good stuff though!) from the time we hit the ground. We're going to make a visit to Ann Arbor, we're heading to the west side of the state for a wedding, my sister is going to be coming in from NYC, and we're going to be seeing lots of friends and family. Plus, I am going to have 4 days off from work, so it's going to be such a nice break. Seriously, I cannot wait.

Fresh - Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15
via
:: Fresh Sugar Lip Butter Coral ::
I've mentioned before how I'm totally obsessed with these ultra-moisturizing lip butters from Fresh, and their new Coral color might be the best one yet. My mom got it for me at Sephora when we were in Chicago, and I'm officially obsessed. It's perfect for a bright summer lip and it's got SPF 15 to protect your lips from the sun. Love it!

:: Fresh produce in my fridge ::
See how I did that, transition from Fresh Lip Butter to fresh produce? I'm sure you are impressed with my cleverness. Ha. Anyway, one of my favorite things about summer is all the colorful produce that's in season. Since starting to eat more Paleo a few months ago, Cam and I have definitely increased the amount of fresh fruits and veggies we eat on a weekly basis and I'm excited to continue that trend through the summer months. After we get home from the store and put all of our groceries away, it always makes me feel really happy to see our fridge filled up with healthy food; I realize that having nourishing food to eat is truly a blessing that many people go without and it's something that I don't want to ever take for granted. This picture just reminds me of how lucky we truly are.

:: Target finds ::
During a recent Target trip, I picked up a few summery pieces to brighten up my closet. Since I don't get to Target quite as often these days, it's great to be able to pick up some fun new clothes when I'm there. Here's what I bought:

Mossimo Supply Co. Juniors Striped Sleeveless Tank - Assorted Colors.Opens in a new window
Mossimo Tank--I loved the neon, and I'm planning on wearing it with jeans/shorts for casual summer days
Xhila Maxi Dress - Assrtd.Opens in a new window
Exhilaration Maxi Dress--I have been wanting a dress with an asymetrical hem for awhile now and I loved the geometric pattern and colors of this one
Women's Merona® Esma Sandal - Assorted Colors.Opens in a new window
Merona Sandals: I needed a new pair of white sandals, and these are the perfect, go with anything flats

:: Yoga/Elevated ::
I've been being fairly consistent with going to yoga recently, and I am loving it! I feel like my strength and flexibility are improving and I'm excited to see more prgress through the summer. In addition to yoga, a new gym called Elevated just opened here in Tahoe and I'm SO excited about it. Cam and I actually decided to get a membership earlier this week, and we're going back to take another class tonight. I'm planning on doing a full post about it next week, but I had to include it the things I'm loving this week--yay for working out!

via
:: Girls ::
I'm a little late to the party on this one, but I've recently really started to like HBO's new show Girls. I've only watched a few episodes and at first I was like meh, I do not like this show because the characters are super annoying. But now it's growing on me. And yes, the characters self-involved and whiny, but I also think the show is pretty realistic. The girls remind me of people I went to U of M with, and from spending time with my sister and her friends in NYC, the lifestyle and the way the characters are portrayed on the show is fairly accurate in my opinion. Now I just need to catch up on the episodes I missed from the beginning of the season!

:: Paleo Sweets ::
Ok, so this one is a little misleading. As I've mentioned before, Cam and I have been using the Paleo diet as a framework to change our eating habits and cut out sugar/processed foods, however, we do still indulge in non-Paleo foods here and there. The way I see it is if I want to have a treat, I'm going to have the real thing, as in an actual chocolate chip cookie or ice cream cone or whatever, instead of some knock-off version that won't really be very satisfying. However, since trying to cut down on the grains/dairy in my diet, I have discovered some delicious options. I wouldn't exactly say these things are healthy because they do have a fair amount of sugar in them, however, as far as sweet options go, they're really not too bad for you.

via
Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate--I love dark chocolate and I eat this stuff pretty much every single day. Since the health benefits of dark chocolate are constantly being touted, I figure that it can't hurt! Buying little bars of dark chocolate can get really expensive, so I'm obsessed with these Pound Plus bars from TJs. The chocolate is actually really good and at $4.99 for a giant bar, it's a fantastic value. I'll usually have 1 square after lunch or dinner and it's honestly the perfect cheap source of chocolate!

Luna & Larry's Coconut Bliss Ice Cream--I recently tried the dark chocolate flavor of this stuff, and I was pleasantly surprised by how amazing it was! It's very rich and creamy and doesn't contain any dairy, so it's a great option for people who are trying to cut that out of their diet. I'm pretty picky about ice cream, and I was expecting to hate this stuff, but it's so so good. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other flavors this summer!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Lara Bars--So I'm not usually a huge fan of bars, because I'd prefer to just eat fruit/actual food that's not in the shape of a rectangle. However, I'd heard that Lara Bars were Paleo, so I decided to pick up a few for our trip to Yosemite and wound up loving them! They're the perfect energy boost for hiking or keeping in your purse if you need a snack and I love that the ingredient list is extremely short! My favorite flavor so far has been the chocolate chip cookie dough, it's seriously delicious!

:: Lake Tahoe ::
Alright, I admit it...I am absolutely loving living in Tahoe! The amazing summer weather has made me enjoy it so much more and I still have to pinch myself some days because I can't believe we live here! Earlier this week, I was doing a little work at Starbucks and all these people on vacation kept coming in and out, and it's still so weird to me that this is home for right now. Last night, Cam and I went to run an errand and decided to play tennis and it was really relaxing. I love that it's nice and sunny here, but not humid and actually cool enough that you can actually do stuff outside without overheating. While we were playing tennis, we were surrounded by pine trees, the smell of nearby campfires, and views of the mountains; I felt like I was on vacation, when really it was just a Tuesday night and we were only 10 minutes from our house! The past few weekends we've been able to spend some time by the water, and I thought I'd share a few recent cell phone snaps of the lake!

My drive to my yoga studio :)
Emerald Bay
A few weekends ago we took Lola hiking and then down to the lake; she's usually petrified of water and refuses to go in, but for some reason she finally just realized water can be fun and just decided to dive right in! Cam and I were both shocked and super happy that she now loves the water!
She had so much fun retrieving her floating frisbee!
Cam had rented a kayak from work (his office rents out all kinds of outdoor gear to their employees at no charge--so awesome!) and Lola decided she wanted to go for a ride and had a blast jumping in to the kayak with us.

You can just tell that she thought she was so cool...ha.

Last weekend, my friend Natasha and her husband Ryan were kind enough to take us out on their boat!
We had so much fun just hanging out on the boat, eating lunch, and enjoying the scenery and the company!
Oh ya know, just driving a boat 9 months pregnant...nbd. Ha.
Sure winter/skiing in Tahoe is great, but I totally get why so many people come here in the summer as it's just such a gorgeous time of the year! And I know I said earlier this week that I'm going to try and stop relying on my cell phone/Instagram for photos for my posts...clearly that's still a work in progress. My cell phone camera is just so much more handy when we're out and about, but I am hoping to use my actual camera more and more this summer! (Btw if you do want to follow me on Instagram, my user name is @janemarieg)

So that's what I'm loving right now! What about you? What's making you happy this week? Xoxo

Missoni MADNESS

Happy Hump Day everybody! So. My parents are in town this week, hence my slight hiatus from blogging, but something happened that I felt was so urgent I that it just had to address it immediately.

Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that yesterday was the release of Missoni's long-awaited collection for Target. I had been looking forward to this for months, and had been planning on going with my mom for the release for the past few weeks. And although I knew there was a lot of buzz about this collection and I had heard talk of people planning to get to Target right when the store opened, I figured that would only happen in places like NYC.

Cut to yesterday. My parents and I had a great day; we went for a hike in Rocky Mountain National Park (pictures to come soon!), I attended an orientation for a volunteer program I'm really pumped about (more details to come on that later too...), and I took my mom to my favorite fro-yo place (obvs). Long story short, we didn't get to Target until about 9pm last night, but I'm thinking no big deal because today is the first day, things shouldn't be too picked over yet...right?

Wrong. Oh so wrong.

We walked in to Target and literally all the Missoni racks were empty except for one tiny sweater. I asked one of the employees about it, thinking that maybe their shipment was a day late or something, and she told me that people were waiting in line when the store opened and everything sold out almost immediately. There were a few random pairs of children's shoes and a few picture frames, but that was about it. It was like a fashion wasteland, just absolutely cray cray.

I should have known that the early bird gets the affordable chevron shift dress.

My mom and I went to the Target in Boulder last night, so as soon as I finish breakfast, we are going to pop over to the SuperTarget right by my house and see if they've got anything left. Although I was excited for this collection and wanted to get a piece or two, I didn't really care that much about it. But now that it's all sold out, it's a different story. I must find me some Missoni.

I'll let you know how the hunt goes, hopefully y'all had better luck at your local Target than I did. (And I realize that the fact that not being able to find the Missoni collection at Target is my biggest problem in life right now is just absurd. Joke life Jane.)

Also, I'll be back to my normal postings ASAP (well, as soon as my parents go back to the mitten state) so don't worry, there will be more ITP&G in your life soon and I've got lots of great fall posts coming up! But speaking of the Mitten State (or Michigan, for those of you who clearly don't know about the awesomeness that is America's high-five), I want to give a huge thank you shout-out to my blogging bud Ashley at Adventures of Newlyweds because I won her giveaway last week!! Yay for me. (In case you don't remember, we went on a blate a few months back and you should go follow her blog now because it's awesome.) Anyway, she was giving away a t-shirt from the Michigan-based company The Mitten State, and I'm in love with their cool vintage designs. If you are from Michigan or you just like Michigan or you just want a cute t-shirt, go check out their site! Here's the shirt I'm getting:

So adorable right? I can't wait to wear it out here in Colorado and let everyone know how awesome my home state is. Speaking of which, I'm off to enjoy the time I have left with my parents, hopefully in some new Missoni ballet flats if I'm lucky. Ciao for now lovelies. Xoxo

Friday: Fitness, Fashion, Food!

Happy weekend! We have officially been Colorado residents for one week and so far I'm really enjoying it! I didn't get a chance to get pictures of our apartment yet, but stay tuned for that post early next week...

Today's post is a random combination of topics (really I just wanted to be able to use alliteration in my post title) starting with fitness. My workout motivation has been severely lacking this week, but hey, it happens. I haven't joined a gym here in Colorado yet, but next week I'm going to start hunting for potential options. I'm also contemplating not joining a gym and *attempting* to start running more consistently, as well as looking for other ways to be active in the great outdoors since it's so gorgeous here in Colorado. (I attempted to do a strength workout in our apartment gym yesterday and it was swelteringly hot, so I think I'm just going to try bringing my own weights outside in the mornings when I want to get a strength workout in.) However, today I wanted to try to shake things up and I decided I wanted to do a pool workout. After taking Lola for a 2 1/2 mile walk this morning, I changed into my suit at lunch to go for a little swim. I found this workout on Cooking Light of all places, and I decided to give it a try. It took me about a half an hour to complete, and although it was quick, it definitely tired me out! I did the advanced option, so my workout looked like this:

  • 5 minutes of swimming (I did freestyle laps...and I was tired at this point, definitely not going to be taking on a triathlon just yet...)
  • 2 sets of 12 reps of push ups on the side of the pool
  • 2 sets of 12 reps of alternating leg kicks (definitely felt these in my tight hamstrings!)
  • 2 sets of 12 reps of side swipes (this move definitely targets the core!)
  • 2 sets of 12 reps of bowl and hooks
  • 5 minutes of easy swimming (I decided to focus on the legs because my arms were pretty tired at this point, so I mainly just kicked myself around the pool)
I just Google Imaged "pool" for a picture and this was one that came up...how crazy is this?!? I guess it's a pool in Toyko in the summer...I'm seriously claustrophobic just looking at it! (source)
Ahh much better :) (source)
This would be a great little workout to try if you're on vacation and your hotel has a pool, I'll definitely be trying it again. And speaking of swimming, I just received my new bathing suit in the mail from Voda Swim that I won from the amazing giveaway last month at The Seattle Smiths! Hopefully I'll be getting up a post with some pictures soon...after I do a few more of these pool workouts that is ;)

On to fashion...well really two great finds from Target aka my idea of fashion! I know I mentioned that I have a large Supertarget near my apartment, and earlier this week I finally decided to go exploring and buy a few things that we needed for our new place. This store was HUGE. You know I have a weakness for Tar-jey's adorable and affordable clothes and shoes, however, I tried to be good at resisting temptation. However, I did leave the store with two items of clothing that I absolutely must share about because I'm obsessed.

(source)
 Exhibit A: The boyfriend t-shirt. I actually got a tip about the awesomeness that is these shirts by my good friend Alyssa on her visit to Greenville last month. Since the style here in Colorado is very laid back, I thought that I could use a few new t's, so I got this shirt in white, orange, and heather grey being that it was ONLY $8! Amazing. These shirts are super comfy, have the perfect flattering V-neck (low, but not too low), and they fit like a dream.

No that's not me...(source)
Exhibit B: The seamless babydoll tank aka the perfect workout shirt. I don't know if it's just me, but many of the cute, fitted workout shirts I have tend to ride as I'm running or doing a class. It's really annoying to have to keep pulling your shirt done to cover your muffin top stomach, so I've been on the hunt for a shirt that's a little longer and not quite so clingy. This shirt fits perfectly and I love that it's a little bit longer and not so tight in the tummy, and it's really comfortable. It has a built-in bra that's sufficient for someone who's cups don't runneth over (like myself) but if you're more well-endowed, you'll probably want to wear an additional sports bra underneath. I got the shirt in teal, but I want to back and get it the other two colors it comes in because it's that great.

Pretty little cherries :)

And finally that leads me to my favorite subject--food! Tonight, Cam and I are having a little night in, and I'm looking forward to relaxing. We're going to make a Mexican skillet for dinner; I got the idea from something I picked up in Whole Foods a few months back and just found in the process of unpacking. I'm going to take some of the grass fed beef I got at the farmer's market, saute it with some veggies and salsa, and put it over some cornbread. (Jiffy of course!) Then I'm going to try to whip up some sort of dessert using the cherries we got the other night...I'm thinking this Cherry Vanilla Cake with some vanilla ice cream? We shall see, and if things come out I'll post some pictures next week! :)

Tonight's Netflix movie of choice: Love and Other Drugs...I've heard good things, so hopefully it lives up to expectations. Then it's resting up for what will hopefully be a fun weekend of exploring our new state! Have a great weekend everyone! xoxo

Welcome to Colorado!

**FYI: I added some additional pictures to some of my posts from last week of our time in Lake Orion with my family and our visit to Ann Arbor, so be sure to check them out because there are lots of cute shots of your favorite big-eared dog, Lola Beans! (Also, Cam took a lot of the pictures I added, gotta give credit where it's due!)**

Hello from Longmont, Colorado! We've been here for about two days and so far I'm absolutely loving it! The weather has been awesome, our apartment is really nice, and the mountains are SO SO beautiful! After fixing the Jeep (thank goodness we were able to get that done so quickly!), we drove in from Nebraska and we got here Friday around lunchtime. It was a really clear day so we were able to get some really great views of the mountains driving in...

It was nice to see the mountains after driving through flat Nebraska for so long!
Don't mind the extremely dirty windshield...

Lola was clearly thrilled we made it
We were pleasantly surprised when we pulled into our apartment (we had only seen photos online since we didn't have time to come to Colorado before we moved!) as the complex is really really pretty! There's a great pool, lots of trees, and fantastic views of the mountains, and the buildings are nice. I don't have any pictures of the apartment in this post (I only had the chance to snap a few before the movers started bringing our stuff in!), but I plan on doing a post with pictures of the apartment ASAP! We're definitely still in the process of getting unpacked, but I'm excited to take some pictures as soon as I have things put together because our apartment is really cute.

We basically spent all Friday afternoon telling the movers where to put things and getting our washer and dryer and internet set up. (Oh yeah, I don't know if I mentioned this before or not but we've decided NOT to get cable TV...we did without it for a year in Ann Arbor, and we really want to try to be as active as possible while living here...so basically it's just going to be Hulu/Netflix from here on out...we'll see how this goes...) I did have the chance to do some driving around on Friday afternoon when I went to go pick up some lunch, and thankfully there are some stores really close to us! Also there are sidewalks and bike lanes EVERYWHERE so I could easily walk or bike to do errands which is something that I couldn't do in South Carolina. I was basically just driving around in awe of how behind all the normal suburban trappings like Home Depot and Red Robin, there are these beautiful snowy mountains! And my heart skipped a beat when I saw this...

That's right, there is a GIANT Super Target 3 minutes from my apartment, and although you can't really see it in this picture, there are beautiful mountains right behind it :)
After the movers finished up on Friday, Cam and I went to check out downtown Longmont and get some dinner. We ate a place called the Pumphouse Brewery, and it was great because we were able to bring Lola with us and eat out on the patio. Downtown Longmont is actually really cute, and I'm sure we'll be coming back to this place.

Their beer was pretty good...but I could definitely feel the altitude affecting me during dinner because two beers seemed more like four!
Their food was pretty good, my chopped salad was delish! (We also got some yummy garlic pretzels that I inhaled before I had a chance to take a picture...whoops)
I asked the waiter to take a picture of us...and he got superrr close...there goes your tip buddy...kidding...but seriously, no need to be right up in my face when you're taking a picture...
Saturday morning, we ventured out to the Longmont Farmer's Market and they seemed to have a pretty good selection of produce. However, it was definitely more expensive than the Farmer's Market in downtown Greenville, so I'm going to keep exploring and see how some of the others compare. But overall it was a lot of fun, and I'm really excited to start cooking!

This stand had a deal where you got a large bag and could fill it with whatever you wanted for $10--we got some redskin potatoes, some onions, garlic, etc.
There were also lots of food stands with interesting selections

I got one of these babies for breakfast...amazeballs.

I really do love Colorado already :)
We got some herbs for to put out on our deck because we actually get quite a bit of sun. I got mint, sage, thyme, and rosemary, and then we also got a pot of mixed basil. I plan to make pesto out of the Genovese basil, but I'm not so sure what to do with the Thai basil and the purple basil...any suggestions??
Saturday afternoon, we tried to get some more unpacking done and for whatever reason, I felt like the stress of moving was finally starting to get to me. Since we had movers moving us, they basically just unpack every box and set things on the nearest flat surface. So on one hand, it's nice that they take away all the boxes and packing materials when they're done, but on the other hand it means there is just stuff EVERYWHERE. Why do two people have so much stuff? It really just causes me anxiety and creates this heaviness and so yesterday just felt a little overwhelming. I have a tendency when I'm stressed to blow up at Cameron about how he is doing little things wrong (well just differently then I would like them would be more correct) like putting the pans in the wrong cupboard or whatever, which in turn makes him upset that he is constantly getting criticized. So while we were getting on each other's nerves a little bit yesterday, we worked through it and things are all good. Except our stuff is still all over the place, but I know the apartment will all come together soon enough...Oh, and my only other minor complaint about our apartment itself is that the thermostat doesn't have a digital display with numbers, but rather it has a sliding temperature thing along the bottom. ANNOYING. I'll turn it to what I think is a comfortable temp then in twenty minutes I'll be freezing cold, so I turn it up a little the other way, and then all of the sudden it's blazing hot. Ugh. But I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually, and other than that, I absolutely love our new place :)
Cowboy boots are church appropriate in Colorado right? Right.
This morning, we got up to go to check out a church near our house called New Creation. I googled "Longmont churches" and I happened to see that John Bevere was speaking at this church today, so that pretty much made my decision. I had seen John's wife, Lisa, speak a few years ago at an event in Michigan and I really enjoyed it. The church seemed really nice and people were friendly and it's fairly close to our apartment. John's sermon was really great and he talked with passion about how God's grace is more than just forgiveness of sins, but really it's an empowerment to live an extraordinary life. Good stuff. Today also happened to be New Creation's church picnic, so although we were tempted to just get in the car and get home to keep unpacking, we decided to socialize instead. We ended up meeting a super nice couple, and they invited us to go hiking with them tomorrow, so yay for meeting new people. The picnic was in a park right across the street from the church, and there were so many beautiful roses all over the place, I couldn't stop taking pictures.

After church we've been trying to do some more unpacking but it's going much slower than either Cam or I would like. I think my little blogging break is about up, and it think it's time to go get changed for dinner. We're finally going to go check out Boulder, so I'm excited for that! Before I go, here are some pictures I took on the way home from church this morning :) Hope everyone is having a great weekend, be back with some more photos soon! (Also, I'm thinking about adding a fashion page as part of the blog revamp, and I may work on that later tonight because I kind of want to include my church outfit from today...we shall see...)
