Let's Do This, September

Over the past few months...well, since Henry was born really...I've been somewhat absent from this space compared to how much I used to blog in the past. And honestly I go back and forth between being frustrated about not having more time to blog the way I'd like and really just not caring at all because I'm focused on other things right now. There's a part of me that's wondered whether I should just step away from blogging altogether for the time being...because if I don't have the time I'd like to devote to this, is it worth doing at all? But every time I think about just quitting blogging cold turkey, it makes me really sad! Plus, I feel like that's being a tad dramatic...ha. After all, the whole reason I started this blog in the first place was to give myself a creative outlet and it's brought a lot of great opportunities and relationships into my life. I don't want to just cut myself off from something I do really enjoy, and so this post is not a farewell. I know, you're probably so relieved right? Ha :)

From a practical standpoint though, part of the reason I haven't blogged as much over the past month specifically is because I've been having some irritating technical issues, as you may or may not have noticed. My domain name (which I purchased from GoDaddy) expired at the end of July (I think because the credit card they had on file was expired and so it couldn't auto-renew) and even though I went and renewed it, it seems to have caused some issues. About half the time I try to go to my blog on either my computer or my phone, I get a message saying the website is temporarily unavailable, and I've received some Instagram comments that many of you have probably had the same issue. The annoying part is that I don't get that error message all the time, and if I refresh the page once or twice, I'm always able to get to the site. So I have quite a few posts lined up that I'm planning on sharing, but I just didn't want to put them up until I have this whole technical issue resolved.

But today is a new month and very I'm excited for the season ahead. Even though I haven't been in school for awhile now, there is always something so motivating about this time of year because it always feels like a fresh start. Right now, I definitely have renewed excitement not only for blogging, but also for lots of other things in my life that I've kind of let slide this summer. It's been hot in Portland these past few months, and so it's made things like working out or cooking or getting projects down around the house extremely unappealing. But thankfully this week, we're having some cool rainy weather and I'm loving it! I'm looking forward to tackling lots of things on my to-do list over the next few weeks, heck, I might even go for a run today that's how pumped I am! (Obviously that will be documented on Instagram if it happens...stay tuned...)

So here's to taking September by the horns and making things happen this month!
(Insert fist bump emoji here) And thank you so much for everyone that has continued to follow along with me here, your continued support and understanding is extremely appreciated :)

Baby // My Portland Shower

Today, I am SO excited to share some photos from the absolutely lovely baby shower I had here in Portland this weekend! Although I did already have a wonderful baby shower back with my family and friends in Michigan last month, I really wanted to celebrate with the people I love here in Oregon as well. So when my friend Rachel offered to throw me a baby shower here in Portland, I was really appreciative! She knows me really well and we have similar taste, and she did a really fabulous job putting everything together. It really meant a lot to be able to share the excitement about our baby boy's impending arrival with my family and friends here and it was such a fun afternoon!

What's really amazing to me is that many of the friends at my shower this weekend were people that I've just met within the past year. For only knowing each other a relatively short time, I'm incredibly grateful that we've already built such solid friendships. And yes, a lot of these girls I have met through blogging! Say what you will about it, but blogging can really bring people together and my shower was a definite testament to that. (I've also included their blog links, if applicable.)

My friend Kelsey took photos at my shower, and she did such a beautiful job of capturing the day. Plus, it was really great to be able to focus on visiting with everyone instead of snapping pictures! I had a hard time narrowing down which ones to share though, so get ready for photo overload...

The adorable invitations Rachel sent set the perfect vibe for the shower.
I'm 33 weeks pregnant, so heading into the home stretch!
Gorgeous spread!
My sweet friend Rachel is the one who hosted the shower, and I really can't thank her enough for her thoughtfulness and hard work putting everything together for such an amazing day!
All the cute little decor items were very "me" and proof that Rachel knows me really well :)

The bump is definitely growing by the day!
Everyone signed a book with sweet messages which was really cute!
I have to give a special shout out to Rachel's roommate Kristi (she's the one in the blue dress and I totally blanked on getting a photo together, whoops!) because I know she put in a ton of work getting ready for the shower as well, and she also made really awesome favors that I loved!
She made these sets of coasters for each person that had four different designs on them and they were all so cute! She is also starting an Etsy shop called Brown Paper Bow so look out for that!
My friend Meredith (left) made the food for the shower and it was all fantastic!
Delicious smoked salmon
Butternut squash and bacon mac and cheese - so yummy!
My mom flew out from Michigan for the weekend for the shower, and it was really fun for her to get to meet the friends I've made since moving to Portland!
Cam's aunt, his cousin, his mom, and my sister-in-law (and our adorable nephew!) were also at the shower and I'm so glad they could be there! It's so nice having his family here in Oregon :)
I loved catching up with so many of my friends like Bee and Sarah!
Plus, Rachel's cat Winston did a great job of entertaining everyone :)
My friend Linnea just had a baby recently and so she's been awesome with giving me tips!
I've actually known Brianne since elementary school and coincidentally, we both ended up in Portland! She's moving out of state soon, but it's been so nice getting to hang out this past year :)
My adorable friend Chloe clearly got the stripes memo :)
Kelsey is not only an amazing photographer, but she's also a really great friend :)
Getting ready to open gifts...I got so many thoughtful things for our little guy!
This cute onesie is from my friend Erin who couldn't be at my shower because she's currently traveling around Asia with her husband for the next few months! (Thanks though Erin!)
My good friend Kristi (who I didn't get a picture with either, whoops!) got us the Fox in Socks book along with some adorable fox pajamas (that have foxes on the feet!) - too cute!
The cake came from Palace Cakes (courtesy of Cam's mom) and it was so good!
The vanilla bean buttercream was divine and I loved the simple yet sweet look of the cake.
Rachel got the adorable cake topper which I just loved :)
Clearly I was excited about the cake, ha!

My Portland shower was absolutely perfect and I had the best time celebrating!
Thanks again to Rachel for hosting, Kristi for the favors, Meredith for making food, Cam's mom for providing the beautiful cake, and Kelsey for taking all these lovely photos of such a special day!

Feast PDX // High Comfort at The Nines

Happy Friday friends! I'm back with another post about Feast!

This past Saturday night, I had the privilege of attending Feast's fanciest event - High Comfort at the Nines Hotel! I was pretty tired from walking around the Oregon Bounty Grand Tasting earlier that day, but I rallied :) This is definitely the event that people get dressed up for and so I was excited to check it out. High Comfort features some of the best chefs from Portland (as well as a few other cities) all putting their own innovative spin on comfort food. It pretty difficult to get good photos with the low lighting in the room, but here's a little glimpse into the evening...

Had to get a quick bump shot - let's just say it's a good thing my dress was really stretchy!

There were tons of great wineries there...but I stuck to Pellegrino all night long :)

These green apple beignets were amazing!
These 'Spanish Kisses' were probably the most unique thing I tried - they were a deconstructed olive that was somehow put back together and exploded in your mouth. Hard to explain, but really good!

Although trying all the creative dishes at High Comfort was great, the what really made the night fun was all of my friends that were in attendance as well! Last year for Feast, I had just moved to Portland and didn't really know anyone; however, this year's event was such an awesome representation of just how far I've come in the past year! Not only has blogging allowed me to participate in some really awesome experiences (like Feast!) but I've also had the opportunity to meet some really fantastic ladies as well. I'm so thankful for all the friendships that I've made here in Portland over the past year, and High Comfort was such a fun celebration of that!

The bloggers here in Portland are definitely a fun group that I'm glad to be a part of!

Have a great weekend everyone!
