Monthly Favorites // July

I cannot believe that today is the last day of July!

I swear, ever since we found out that we're having a boy it seems like time has sped up all of the sudden! When we were still waiting to find out the gender, it seemed like the weeks kind of dragged. But now that we've passed the halfway point, it feels like December will be here before we turn around! Which is super exciting...but also a little crazy! But I digress...since it is the end of July, I wanted to share a few of the things I've been loving this month! (Warning: A lot of it's food related...)

Alter Eco Dark Salted Brown Butter Chocolate
Surprisingly, I have not been craving chocolate at all so far during my pregnancy (weird!)...but I could not pass this stuff up when I saw it at New Seasons. I think the name pretty much speaks for itself!

Nivea A Kiss of Milk and Honey Soothing Lip Care
A combination of summer heat and pregnancy has been making my lips extra dry this month, and so I have been loving this lip balm! It's incredibly smoothing and hydrating and it smells really delicious!

HIMYM
Ok, so I do realize I'm way late to the party on this...as in like years late. How I Met Your Mother was a show that Cam and I never watched, even though we had a ton of friends that loved it. We were just never super interested in it. But now that the reruns are in syndication, I have been watching them all month long! Cam still doesn't really care for the show, but I have to admit that it's growing on me!

Organix Coconut Water Shampoo and Conditioner
I have hair that tends to get greasy at the roots quickly, but given it's length, it also tends to get dry at the same time...which is annoying. I'm always looking for shampoos/conditioners that will provide moisture without weighing my hair down, and so when I saw this Coconut Water shampoo and conditioner that said "weightless hydration", I was sold! I've really been enjoying using these this month and I absolutely love how they smell so summery!

Talenti Sea Salt Caramel Gelato
I have loved Talenti gelato for a long time now, but my favorite flavor has always been the Caramel Cookie Crunch. I had actually never tried the Sea Salt Caramel flavor until earlier this month, and now I'm obsessed. It's really rich because it has chocolate truffles in it, but it's so so good - try it!

Begin Again
I hadn't been to the movies this summer because all the big blockbuster action flicks out right now aren't my cup of tea. However, when I saw the previews for Begin Again, I was intrigued. I knew it wouldn't be a movie that Cam would want to see (since it involved Adam Levine acting...ha), so I actually went to go see it by myself while he was out of town for work earlier this month. I think that was the first time I've ever gone to a movie by myself and it was kind of fun! I actually liked the movie a lot more than I thought I would, and the songs are pretty catchy! They do have kind of dumb lyrics and Keira Knightly's singing voice isn't great, but I've found myself listening to the soundtrack this month while working and really loving it!
I first tried this nail polish back when I was in high school, back when I had acrylic nails (shudder). It's a super old OPI color that's a vibrant pearlized fuschia and it definitely has a very 90's look to it...but I kind of love it. I recently rediscovered it this month when I got a pedicure and I've really been liking it. There's a reason that OPI has kept it around all these years, it's a great summer color!

Starbucks Shaken Iced Green Tea Lemonade
I haven't been drinking coffee this summer and so I've had to find other things to have instead. I love the iced (unsweetened) green tea lemonades at Starbucks, they're so refreshing on a hot day!

Fjallraven Kånken
This backpack is a total hipster item that I would never buy, but when my sister in NYC was getting rid of hers and asked if I wanted it, I said why not. It's in the color Brick and I actually really like it! It's perfect for transporting my laptop when I walk to go do work at a coffee shop like a pretentious loser.

Yoobi Mini Highlighters
I posted a picture of these on Instagram yesterday, but I love them and so I had to include them in today's list as well. I picked them up at Target earlier this month and I think they're just the cutest thing! I keep a running handwritten list of all the things I need to do for work, and I often use highlighters to help me identify and prioritize tasks that still need to be accomplished. These make tackling to-do's much more fun, plus Yoobi donates school supplies to schools in need!

Pacific Pie Co.
Earlier this month, I had the chance to attend a blogger event at Pacific Pie Co. and it was awesome! I first heard tried their pie at Feast last year and was really impressed, and so Cam and I visited their location in SE Portland last fall. However, they've since opened a second location on NW 23rd and they have so much more than just pie! They serve lunch and dinner and they recently just started serving breakfast on the weekends as well. All the food that I had at the event was really delicious, and I'll definitely be going back soon!

Hands down, my favorite thing that we got to try at the event was their Pie Shakes. Yes, that's right, they take a piece of their delicious pie and put it in a milkshake...it's genius. This shake featured their Chocolate Bourbon Hazelnut Pie and it was incredible!

{My meal at Pacific Pie Company was complimentary, but as always, all opinions are my own (and I just genuinely love the restaurant). Everything else was purchased with my own money, just FYI}

What about you? What have you been loving this month?

  3. I was way late to the How I Met Your Mother party too. I still haven't watched all the seasons, etc. (Which btw are on Netflix.) Funny show. I also went and saw Begin Again while my husband was out of town. This time I went with a friend but I go to the movies all the time by yourself... it's kind of nice. I agree that Kira's voice was not the greatest but I did enjoy the film. (It was a tad bit slow, but I expected that I guess.)
