Happy Friday everybody!

It's hard to believe that we've finally reached the end of the summer.
And yes, I realize fall "technically" doesn't start for a few weeks, but I think for most people Labor Day is pretty much the final hurrah and it means that's summer is pretty much done.
And what a summer it's been!

Although I feel like we haven't had as much time as I would have liked to do "summer-y" things like swim and camp, we have been pretty busy going to weddings and moving to a new city! The other day I was scrolling through some of my recent Instagrams and I was reminded of all the fun we've had the past few months. Although I enjoy taking pictures with our actual camera, I love how Instagram allows me to preserve random little moments from everyday life. I thought it might be fun to share some of my favorites Instas from June, July, and August as a quick summer recap before we head into fall!

(And yes, the camera on my Android phone is kinda terrible so some of  these are pretty grainy, but just go with it!)

We celebrated our four year anniversary :)
Soaking up time by the water, there's really nowhere else quite like Tahoe in the summer!

Like I said, it's been quite the summer and the fun is not over yet!
We actually flew from Oregon to Michigan yesterday, and we'll be here for the next ten days! My good friend Katie is getting married tomorrow and I'm a bridesmaid in her wedding. It's our final wedding of 2014 and I couldn't be more excited for it. We've got a lot of other fun things planned with family and friends for this visit as well, and I couldn't think of a more perfect way to end the summer.
(And of course, you can keep up with our trip by following me on Instagram! @inthepinkandgreen)

Have a fantastic Labor Day weekend everyone! Xoxo

Pillow Talk

Happy Hump Day everyone!
This week is flying by, which is great because we are leaving to fly to Michigan tomorrow (woo!)...but I also have quite a bit that I need to get done before then!

Anyway, our new apartment is slowly but surely starting to come together. This weekend, we spent a lot of time getting things organized which was annoying but necessary. Now I finally feel like everything has a place to be put away, which is HUGE, and it doesn't feel like cluttery mess anymore. Such a relief!

However, in terms of decorating it's still not "done" like I want it to be.
Which in a house would be one thing, because I'd be more willing to take the time to slowly find pieces that I like. But considering that we only have a year lease for this apartment and then will hopefully be moving (aka buying) some place more permanent, I'd like to just get our apartment looking somewhat cute as soon as possible so I can post pictures of it on my blog we can enjoy it. Plus, it's a pretty small space so it's not like we need to do much more for it to be "done".

In terms of what envisioned for the apartment, I'm really loving grays right now and that's the main color scheme we wanted to go with. I posted a couple of weeks ago about our search for a rug, and we did end up settling on something gray and white...but it's not any of the options that I posted about--you'll just have to wait and see! We also got our couch delivered, and it's more of a charcoal gray. So far, I've purchased two pillows for the couch--this one and this one (in the lighter color).

But we definitely need a few more pillows for our couch/chair and now I'm kind of torn. Part of me wants to just stick with all black, white, and gray as I think it's classic, would be cohesive, and would fit in well with our space. On the other hand, the weather in Oregon outside our window will be pretty gray most of the time and it might be nice to have some pops of color to brighten things up.

Here are some of my favorite pillow choices for each option...
Crazy over Color
I wouldn't be putting all these colored pillows together, these are just a few that caught my eye! (Apparently I'm liking orange this week, weird...)

A few final things:

1. I am definitely NOT a decorator. I know what I like and can "pin" inspiration rooms all day long, but when it comes to actually choosing things myself and mixing colors/patterns, that's another story. There are many choices out there and I find it kind of overwhelming trying to decide what to pick!
2. Speaking of choices, I'm slightly obsessed with Society6 at the moment. Which is probably evident considering their pillows make up about half the choices on this page.
3. I know there are tons of other online/Etsy shops out there with cute pillows...anyone have suggestions on where to find cute pillows that are reasonably priced? I'd love your suggestions!
PS: Linking up with Shanna today!

Quick Trip to Lost Lake

Happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend?

Cameron and I managed to pack quite a bit into the last few days, yet the weekend still seemed to fly! With Labor Day weekend fast approaching, we wanted to try to soak up as much of summer as we could so we headed out to go camping at Lost Lake on Friday after work. The lake is located about two hours east of Portland near the base of Mt. Hood and it's absolutely incredible.

However, Lost Lake is also a very popular place to camp in the summer.
Aka we did not get there in time to get a campsite on Friday since they are first come, first serve.

The view of the mountain was so stunning that we ended up just hanging out by the lake and grilling in the day use area until the sun went down. It was so pretty!

I probably took 50+ more photos of just the mountain that night because it was just so gorgeous.
(But I'll restrain myself from posting them all!)
Oregon is kind of a pretty state :)

We ended up just pitching our tent in a random area in the woods near the lake, and and camping there for the night. Which was fine, except for the fact that the ground where we had our tent was kind of slanted and I swear Lola kept pushing me in the night so I'd slide down into the edge of the tent.

After all, it's Lola's world, we're all just living in it...ha!

Saturday morning, we headed back down to the lake. The weather was fairly overcast, but we figured it would clear up later in the day and so we grabbed a spot by the water in the day use area.

Roasting hot dogs!
Lola begging for a piece of hot dog, obviously
Making some morning s'mores...because they are a great breakfast food :)
As much as I like the jumbo marshmallows, I think they are harder to roast because they are so big!
Cameron pensively waiting for the sun to come out...ha!
So when we're in the camp chairs, Lola loves to be sitting in our laps...she's pretty spoiled.
And clearly kind of violent...ha!
(Cam took this and insisted I put it up)
Such a goof.
Watching people in their boats and kayaks
Love this :)
So the weather ended up being fairly cloudy for most of the day (boo) but Cameron and Lola still went for a bunch of rides in our tube...while I relaxed on shore with my Kindle :)
As you can see in the picture, the mountain was barely visible with the clouds (double boo) on Saturday so we were really happy that we were able to see it the night before!

After spending the day relaxing by the lake, we decided to head home instead of camping for a second night since we still had quite a few things we wanted to get done around the apartment this weekend. On the way back to Portland, we stopped for an early dinner in Hood River, OR, which happens to be the mecca of kiteboarding! Most people were wrapping up for the day when we walked by, but it seems like such a fun sport and I love watching everyone!

Hood River is also the home of Full Sail Brewing, which we visited back in Fall 2011

Downtown Hood River is small but cute, and it's fun to walk around!

We decided to eat at the Horse & Hound Pub because it looked cute, it said they had a large beer selection, and we needed somewhere with outdoor seating since we had the dog with us.

And doesn't she look thrilled...ha!
So the food we got (fish tacos for me, poutine for Cameron) was just OK (but way too salty). And honestly, the place was kind of dirty so I would not recommend going here!
However, we did find a food cart with organic artisan you're speaking my language!
So much fruit is grown near Hood River, and we were told the fresh Strawberry gelato was made with really ripe local berries. It was SO good and paired perfectly with the vanilla gelato I also got.
I'm pretty sure I need that pink and green trailer since it matches my blog :)

We got back to our apartment Saturday night, which was perfect because we were able to get showered (and bathe Lola, which is always a task) and get a good night's sleep in our own bed so that we ended up being able to get a lot done yesterday. Love weekends that are relaxing yet productive!
