Happy Thursday friends! Since we're almost to another weekend, I figure it's high time to share some photos from this past weekend!
My good friend Katie lives in Charleston, SC but she has to travel quite a bit for her job. She happened to be out in San Francisco last week for work, and so she was able to make the drive out to Tahoe to visit moi for the weekend. We had such a great time together and it was so much fun to be able to show her just how fantastic the summer here in Tahoe is. I swear, each weekend I'm falling in love with this place a little more!
After she got in on Friday evening, we headed around the lake up to Incline Village to have dinner at Bite. Cam and I had gone there once before for dessert, but this was our first time eating dinner there and the food did not disappoint. It's an American style tapas place, so we ordered lots of small plates to share--my favorites were the Devils on Horseback (Smoked Bacon Wrapped Dates w/ Point Reyes Bleu Cheese), the Fiery Honey Baby Back Ribs, the Crispy Goat Cheese Sliders with Housemade Tomato Jam and Fresh Basil, and the Warm Bread Pudding Bites ala mode with Bourbon Sauce. I completely forgot to get any pictures of the food, but I highly recommend it if you're ever in the Tahoe area! The drive from South Lake Tahoe up to Incline Village is really beautiful, so we stopped to take in some of the great views of the lake.
Saturday morning, we took Katie to try a class at our new gym and it was the hardest one we've taken yet! (More on the gym next week!) After getting in a great workout (and showering of course), we took Katie on the same little tour of Tahoe that we did with my parents back in April. We drove around the lake, stopped by Emerald Bay, drove to Truckee and had lunch at Fifty Fifty Brewing Company (so good). Both times we've eaten here I've order the Half Moon Bay Burger which features jalepenos, homemade cream cheese, and wildflower honey--it's amazing! (Again, I forgot to get a picture, but I'm seriously going to try to make it at home, the combination of flavors was perfect!)

When the sun started to go down, we decided to head to dinner at this place in South Lake Tahoe called Lakeside Beach Grill. It was our first time trying it and it's one of the only places in Tahoe where you can eat right on the water. The food was just ok, but the views of the lake make it worth checking out. We really lucked out because while eating dinner, we were able to witness one of the most incredible sunsets I've ever seen. The sky started out with vibrant blues and golds and the colors transformed into intense pinks, yellows, and reds. I'm so glad we had the perfect spot to soak it all in! Everyone at the restaurant was snapping photos of the vivid sky, and so of course I could resist take a couple (or thirty). The colors were so gorgeous and all of the sunset shots are straight out of camera with no editing (with exception of straightening a few because I can't take a straight picture to save my life!), and they're some of my favorite Tahoe pics I've taken so far (and Cam took some of them so I can't take all the credit)!
Sunday, we had breakfast at one of our local spots, The Red Hut Cafe, before heading out to go kayaking on the Upper Truckee River. Cam rented a single kayak from work, and then Katie and I used our new inflatable kayak. Surprisingly the inflatable kayak was very stable and super comfortable to sit in, so I'm definitely glad we bought it. Our plan was to kayak the Upper Truckee out to the lake, but it was really hot and sunny when we headed out and we didn't realize just how long this section of the river was. It ended up taking us about 3.5 hours to get to lake, and we were all really sunburned by the time we got to the end. Despite that, we ended up hanging out on the beach and swimming for the rest of the day and it was such a perfect afternoon to be by the lake.

I'm so glad Katie could come experience Tahoe, and I'm looking forward to more weekends like this for the rest of the summer! Xoxo
