A little change of plans...

Happy Wednesday and Happy Leap Day everyone! It's so strange to me that every four years we get an "extra" day...but I'm not complaining!

So I mentioned that Cam and I were supposed to be going to San Francisco this weekend.
Well, we're not anymore...because this happened:

We finally got some snow in Tahoe!

It's been such a dry winter here and really terrible for skiing, so it's kind of fun that we are finally getting a little bit of winter. We got quite a bit of snow on Monday and I snapped that picture on my cell phone yesterday afternoon on my walk with Lola (yes, I still took her for a walk even though it was freezing!). Since then, we got some more snow last night, and outside my window it's still snowing and the wind is howling like crazy (so Lola might not be getting a walk today...). The snow is supposed to continue through tomorrow, and it's making me really glad that I work from home! Since this is probably going to be the best weekend for skiing yet, Cam and I decided that we're going to postpone our weekend getaway to San Fran until next weekend and then stay here and ski this Saturday and Sunday. So far we've only skied at Heavenly (because it's less than 5 minutes from our house!) but our ski passes get us access to two other resorts in area (Kirkwood and Northstar for those of your familiar with Tahoe), so we're hoping to try out one of those other resorts this weekend.

I'm a little bit bummed because I'm really looking forward to San Francisco, but I would really like to get some more skiing in this year so I think that postponing our trip until next weekend is for the best. Plus, hopefully the mountain roads won't be as snowy by then and it will make the drive there easier.

So in the meantime, I'm resting up because I'm sure my legs are going to be dead after this weekend if we ski both days! We went this past Sunday, and I feel like I'm improving a little bit each time, but I still have a long way to go. The weather was a little bit overcast so the lake wasn't quite as blue as it's been other days, but it was still beautiful and less icy than it's been the past few weeks. Here are some of my pictures from this past weekend, I'm sure I'll have many more next week!

My face was definitely windburned at this point!

Have a great Wednesday everyone! xoxo

PS: Did anyone see the Leap Day episode of 30 Rock? Hilarious. Here's the link to the full episode in case you missed it! “It's Leap Day! Real life is for March!”

  2. I didn't know you lived in Tahoe! I live in Palo Alto and we have been dying to make it over, but since the snow hasnt been the best we are thinking of coming out this spring/summer. You'l have to let me know where to go and what restaurants to try!

  3. YAY! You guys finally got snow :)

I think you're making the best decision by postponing your weekend in San Fran - SF will always be there, but perfect fluffy snow for skiing won't! Can't wait to hear how it goes.

  5. wow, look at that backdrop! we finally got snow last night too! LOTS of it. it was a snow storm all night/day - schools cancelled, etc! crazy! too bad we don't have a mountain range like that to fully enjoy it - although we do have a small "peak" which is renowned in this srea... but still NOTHING compared to tahoe! ahah.

btw, i'm currently hosting a gift exchange on my blog if you're interested :) the theme is "handmade."

also, there's a giveaway going on too... ending march 7th!

  7. Definitely jealous of the snow and your hometown in general. We really haven't had a winter yet here on the east coast. Happy skiing!
