A little change of plans...

Happy Wednesday and Happy Leap Day everyone! It's so strange to me that every four years we get an "extra" day...but I'm not complaining!

So I mentioned that Cam and I were supposed to be going to San Francisco this weekend.
Well, we're not anymore...because this happened:

We finally got some snow in Tahoe!

It's been such a dry winter here and really terrible for skiing, so it's kind of fun that we are finally getting a little bit of winter. We got quite a bit of snow on Monday and I snapped that picture on my cell phone yesterday afternoon on my walk with Lola (yes, I still took her for a walk even though it was freezing!). Since then, we got some more snow last night, and outside my window it's still snowing and the wind is howling like crazy (so Lola might not be getting a walk today...). The snow is supposed to continue through tomorrow, and it's making me really glad that I work from home! Since this is probably going to be the best weekend for skiing yet, Cam and I decided that we're going to postpone our weekend getaway to San Fran until next weekend and then stay here and ski this Saturday and Sunday. So far we've only skied at Heavenly (because it's less than 5 minutes from our house!) but our ski passes get us access to two other resorts in area (Kirkwood and Northstar for those of your familiar with Tahoe), so we're hoping to try out one of those other resorts this weekend.

I'm a little bit bummed because I'm really looking forward to San Francisco, but I would really like to get some more skiing in this year so I think that postponing our trip until next weekend is for the best. Plus, hopefully the mountain roads won't be as snowy by then and it will make the drive there easier.

So in the meantime, I'm resting up because I'm sure my legs are going to be dead after this weekend if we ski both days! We went this past Sunday, and I feel like I'm improving a little bit each time, but I still have a long way to go. The weather was a little bit overcast so the lake wasn't quite as blue as it's been other days, but it was still beautiful and less icy than it's been the past few weeks. Here are some of my pictures from this past weekend, I'm sure I'll have many more next week!

My face was definitely windburned at this point!

Have a great Wednesday everyone! xoxo

PS: Did anyone see the Leap Day episode of 30 Rock? Hilarious. Here's the link to the full episode in case you missed it! “It's Leap Day! Real life is for March!”

Love me some Downton Abbey

Have y'all been watching Downton Abbey? If you're should be!

Season Two just concluded last Sunday on PBS, but if you haven't been watching you still have time to catch up. Season One is available for streaming on Netflix, and Cam and I first watched it back when we were living in Colorado and got hooked after one episode. (Yes, Cam loves this show's that good!) Season Two premiered here in the US last month and is available online at, but according to the website it's only available for streaming there for a few more days! However, since the show came out months ago in the UK I'm pretty sure you may also be able to purchase Seasons 1 & 2 online from Itunes.

What's so great about Downton Abbey you ask?

Um, everything.

It takes place in England during the early 20th century, and centers around a wealthy family (who lives in Downton Abbey...hence the name) and their many servants. I love history and this takes place during such a fascinating time. I love all the period details of the show (even if they aren't all completely correct) and the house is amazingly gorgeous. Everything is so formal and there is such distinction between classes, it's so totally different from life today. Each episode is full of drama, romance, scandal, and some humor...mainly thanks to the Dowager Countess of Grantham, played fabulously by Maggie Smith.

She's so snarky and I love it.

I also love all the gorgeous gowns that the Crawley women are always wearing in this series, it makes me wish that people still dressed this way...and wore hats.

The show is so well-cast and all the different storylines between the characters are so intriguing!

Long story short? If you haven't watched Downtown Abbey, you need to see what all the buzz is about! It's definitely one of the most entertaining, well-written shows on television.

(Also, if you're a Downton fan you'll definitely enjoy this humor from one of my favorite hilarious)

Cam and I have two more episodes to watch from Season Two and I have a feeling we'll get through them both tonight...I can't wait! Have a great Tuesday! xoxo

Red Hot Oscar Fashions!

Happy Monday everyone!

This weekend was relaxing yet productive, which is a great combo if you ask me! I wanted to share my favorite dresses from last night's Academy Awards...which I didn't even end up watching! I love the Oscars and I was planning on watching them, but yesterday Cam and I ended up having a full day of skiing and running errands and I didn't make it home in time to tune in. Oh well. But from the photos of the gowns that the stars chose it looks like I didn't miss much (because let's be honest, I totally watch it to see what everyone is wearing!). I was definitely a little underwhelmed with this year's overall fashion pool, but there were three colorful looks that I thought stood out from the rest...

I love how these three ladies made bright, beautiful choices last night and I thought they all looked stunning. Here's a breakdown of their looks, in order of my favorites...

I think that Emma Stone is gorgeous and has incredible style. She always makes great choices on the red carpet and this Giambattista Valli gown was no exception...I absolutely love the color and the bow, and thought she looked amazing
Michelle Williams incorporated two of my favorite spring trends in her look last night--orange and peplum! I thought she looked realy pretty, and this vintage Louis Vuitton dress was really fashion forward.
I thought new mom Natalie Portman's polka dot Dior Haute Couture gown was a really fun choice. I love the bright red color and I like that she wore her hair down for a change. Overall, it was classic yet unexpected.

Those are my picks! Who did you think looked best last night?

Here's to a new week, let's make it wonderful everyone! Xoxo

Work/Workout/Life Update!

Happy Friday everyone!

So I know I said I was going to give y'all an update on life yesterday, but I totally ran out of time. However, I thought it would be the perfect way to end the week, so here goes!

As of yesterday, I've been at my new job for a month now and so far everything is going really well! I'll admit, working from home can be challenging sometimes. It's tough not to have in-person interaction with others, and I still struggle to keep myself focused and on task from time to time. However, I'm really grateful for this job, and I keep reminding myself that being able to work remotely is a blessing that a lot of people stuck in a cubicle would love to have.

But today I wanted to share a little more information with y'all about what it is I'm actually doing at my job! As I mentioned last month, I'm working in recruiting. More specifically, my company specializes in recruitment process outsourcing, meaning they partner with their clients to serve as an extension of their organization by providing human capital basically we find them good people to fill their open positions. My title is Talent Acquisition Specialist and my role in the process is to find candidates. I'm assigned to a particular client, and each week I am assigned to a few different cities and I have to find a certain number of candidates for each city to submit for the position. I like recruiting because it's kind of like sales, except instead of trying to sell someone something they don't need, you're helping someone find a new job, and you're helping the company find a great employee. It's definitely stressful at times (like when you call a bunch of people and no one calls you back and you're freaking out that you don't have any candidates!) but overall, it's rewarding when you can find the right person for the right position and get them hired! Plus, I get to talk on the phone all day, and anyone who knows me IRL knows that I love to talk so it's the perfect fit for my personality.

The toughest part of my job is finding good candidates, and I use a variety of strategies ranging from career boards, LinkedIn, and even social media like Facebook and Twitter to try to connect with people in a particular city. (My company is really big on us using social media which I think is really cool!) And it just dawned on me this week that maybe I should put the particular cities/positions I'm working on my blog too! I mentioned it briefly earlier this week, and I actually got a few responses, so I'm going to make it a regular thing. I don't plan on making my job a huge focus of my blog, but as the readership of this little blog has grown (thank you by the way!), I realize that people may be reading from all across the country. Maybe you're looking for a new job, or you have a friend or family member who might be interested in one of the positions I'm working on, so I figure why not share them? If even one person could get hired from seeing a position on my blog, then I figure it's worth it!

I'm not going to divulge too much specific information about my client on my blog, but I can tell you that I'm pretty much exclusively working on outside sales positions. Each week I tend to work on some entry level sales positions where I'm looking for someone who's a recent college grad with some outside sales experience, and then I also work on more senior-level outside sales positions where I'm looking for someone with 4+ years of outside sales experience. I generally tweet all the positions I'm working on, so if you're interested follow me @thepinkandgreen. I usually find out which positions I'll be working on for the following week on Friday afternoon, and I'll tweet about all the positions then (so stay tuned later today!). I'll also probably start just briefly announcing which cities/positions I'll be working for that week on Monday's post as well. If you're interested in a particular city/position, shoot me an email to and I'll be happy to talk to you about it and share all the details.

(Also, if anyone would be interested in more recruting/job seeker advice/resume help type posts, let me know! It's something I've thought about posting about, but I'm not sure if people are interested in stuff like that?)

So while work has been going well, things have not been so stellar on the fitness front. Working out has always been a regular part of my life, and it's something that I've seriously neglected since moving to Tahoe last month. However, I'm happy to announce that I'm slowly but surely getting back on the wagon. This week, I started a 2 week trial membership to the Anytime Fitness near my house and I've worked out three days in a row this week (including this morning!). I don't think I'm going to end up getting a membership to this place after the 2 weeks is up because it's kind of small and filled with meathead guys, but it's just a good catalyst to get me back in the rhythym of working out. There are a few yoga places I'm looking forward to trying out, I've got a few different workout DVDs I'm planning to use more regularly, and I'm hoping that once the weather gets warmer I'll be able run outside again (even though I'm still scared of getting hit by a car on these crazy roads!).

I'm excited to be working out again, and I also want to try to clean up my eating habits a little bit more as well. Winter always makes me want to bake non-stop, and I tend to slack a little bit more on healthy eating. But with Memorial Day only three months away, I really want to make more of a diligent effort to stop eating so much crap. I feel like I justify so much stuff that I eat by saying it's "a special occassion" but the fact of the matter is that "special occassions" seem to occur multiple times a week. This post is already getting quite lengthy, so I'll save talking about all this nutrition stuff for another post, but basically Cam and I are both trying to commit to eat more healthfully and I'm excited about it.

Although, I was initially a little bit down on life in Lake Tahoe when we first moved here, I've grown to like it more and more each day. It's definitely a slower pace of life here and it's different to be so far away from suburban conveniences, but it's also amazing to be surrounded by so much beauty each time I step outside.Although I haven't met many people here yet, overall everyone I've encountered seems to be really friendly, and I want to make more of an effort at over the next few months to get to know people. I'm really looking forward to the spring and summer here too; I think the longer days are going to really help my motivation to actually get out and be active in the evenings.

Another thing I'm really excited about right now are all the places that Cam and I have on our list to travel to over the next few months. We've got some fun trips coming up in the future, starting with a visit to San Francisco next weekend! I haven't been to San Fran since I was in middle school, so I'm really pumped to spend the weekend there. If anyone has any suggestions for restaurants or must-see sights, I'd love to hear them!

So overall, I'd say life is pretty darn good right now considering this is the view I wake up to every morning...

(I had to include at least one picture in this post!)
So that's it for me today! Thanks for letting me share what's been going on in my neck of the woods!

This weekend is going to be pretty low-key and I'm really looking forward to relaxing with my hubby and my pup...I hope you're weekend is wonderful as well! Xoxo

Presidents Day Weekend in Portland

Hey, hey! Happy Wednesday everyone!

We're back from Oregon and it was great to be able to get away for a few days, spend time with family, eat some good food, and yes, do some shopping! I love that every time we go to Portland, we always try new (to-me) places and explore different parts of the city and this weekend was no exception. I didn't really take that many photos this weekend, but I thought I'd share a few, along with some of my favorite discoveries.

The weekend was fairly rainy, but it didn't bother me because it meant I got to wear my Hunters! Plus, I got to try out the new cable-knit liners I got for Christmas--they're super warm!
Saturday morning, Cam and I got coffee at a place I hadn't tried before called Public Domain and I really liked it...they make a great mocha and a delicious flourless chocolate cookie!
Public Domain is right near Pioneer Square, so of course I had to get a picture with this guy.
Cam knew I wanted to go shopping, so we spent some of the day at Pioneer Place, the mall that's right downtown. My find for the day? A pair of red skinny jeans! I've been wanting some for months, so I'm excited that I finally found some.
Later on, we went across the river to the other side of Portland where I saw an ad for a bar that has a crafting night where you can just bring your knitting needles or whatever to the bar and just drink and craft (I seriously want to go to this sometime). I also found a really cute French restaurant called Petite Provence that is now on my list of places to try next time we're in town.
We opted to skip the French food this trip because we were on our way to try out an ice cream place! We had heard Salt & Straw had really inventive flavors so we wanted to see for ourselves...
Portland has a lot of farm-to-table restaurants that use fresh, local ingredients and Salt & Straw has taken the same concept and applied it to ice cream! They actually call themselves a farm-to-cone ice cream shop, and as you can tell by the menu their flavors are very unique!
We got their ice cream taster where you could pick 4 different flavors so we tried their sea salt caramel (which was super salty but good), Oregon Kiss with hazlenut gianduja (probably the most "normal" flavor, really delicious), Nikasi Stout with fudge swirls (the flavor of the Oregon beer in this ice cream was very apparent, literally the ice cream tasted like beer)...and our final flavor? Bone Marrow with Smoked Cherries. See told you they had some wild flavors! The bone marrow ice cream was more savory than sweet and it had a really smoky flavor...very interesting!
Cam trying out the flavors...
I snapped a few shots of the city before we headed to dinner...

So pretty!
We ate dinner with Cam's parents at a restaurant called The Urban Farmer, and it was great--highly recommend it if you like steak! The restaurant is inside the Nines hotel and it's got a great vibe, it's lively but not too loud, it's low lit but not too dark, just a all-around fantastic spot. I wish I could have gotten some pictures of the food, but my cell camera wasn't handling the low light so well!
Other than exploring Portland, I had a chance to catch up on some reading--I'm in the middle of an excellent book I can't wait to finish and share with you!
I also got some productive working time in at Starbucks...
...and spent time with these lovely people!
Our sweet little niece is growing like a weed!
All in all, it was a lovely (albeit rainy) weekend, and now that we live so much closer (the flight is only an hour!) we'll hopefully be making much more frequent visits there!

And speaking of Portland, is anyone there looking for a job? Because I've got an opportunity for you!

Let me explain...

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I got a new job working remotely for a recruiting firm. I'm planning on sharing a more of an in-depth update on how everything is going tomorrow, but for now I just wanted to quickly touch on the projects I'm working on this week. I'm recruiting for outside sales positions in Hartford, CT, Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, and the SF Bay area so if you or anyone you know has outside sales experience and is looking for a new opportunity in those cities, send your (or their) resume to for more information!

Hope everyone is having a great week! xoxo

A Day in the Life of Lola

Greetings from Oregon everyone!

Cam had the day off for President's Day, so he's out skiing with his brother right now...while I'm at his parents' house working since I didn't get the day off today! But it actually worked out well because Cam is a much little bit better skier than I am, so I figured he and Brandon would have more fun skiing without me slowing them down (plus I did not feel like lugging all my ski stuff on the plane). We had a great weekend here though, and actually, it's kind of fun to have a different environment to work in for the day, so I can't really complain too much! I'll have more on our mini-trip later this week, but I've got a very special post in store for today. With all the excitement of Valentine's Day last week, I realized that it's been forever since I posted pictures of my little lovebug...

A face only a mother could love.

As great as it's been to go out of town, I'm definitely missing my sweet little Lola Beans today! I know I've said it before, but she really is the best dog ever. She's got such a hilarious personality and she's so loving. I don't think I could work at home without her to keep me company. She loves to sleep by the fire, and her goofy expressions make want to constantly grab my camera to take photos of her. I thought I'd share a few (ok, a ton) of my recent snaps of my favorite subject to brighten your Monday...this is pretty much an average day in the life of Lola:

The first thing Lola does when she wakes up in the morning is go right to the fireplace and stare into's like she forgets it's there overnight and always has to go examine upon waking each day.
She'll literally stare into it for hours on end, mesmerized by the flames...also if you're wondering why her food dish is a chewed up Rubbermaid that's missing a lid it's because she's literally broken 3 different until I find one that's more durable that's what she's eating out of!
After contemplating her thoughts by the fireside, she usually takes a long nap on the couch...
...and gets creeped out that I take pictures of her why she's sleeping...ha.
Time to get up!
In the afternoon, she likes to go sit on our deck in the sun
Again, staring off into the distance contemplating her many thoughts
Sometimes in the afternoon, I'll be at my desk working and then turn around and see all the pillows on the floor and Lola curled up in a ball pouting in the corner of the couch. She usually does this after a few unsuccessful attempts to jump in my lap in my desk chair...because that's not distracting when you're trying to work.
You wouldn't let me sit in your lap, so now you're dead to me.
Oh em gee, someone is breaking into our house...oh wait, that's just Dad coming home from work!
Watching some TV on the couch...
...just kidding! Time for a wresting match!
Stealing a kiss
She likes to end the night cuddling on the couch...
She always tries to fight her sleepiness to stay up and watch Conan, but she can never do it.
So there you have it, that's how our dog spends her day.

(Because I'm sure you were dying to know...)

Lola's favorite thing is cuddling with Cam and I on the couch, and it's hilarious how she always has to put her little paw on us. I will constantly find her perched in the most precarious positions with Cam on the couch and it just cracks me up. I snapped these the other night and couldn't stop laughing...

The day when we were all snuggling on the couch and Lola was sleeping in between us, Cam seriously looked at me and said "Do you ever think we could love a kid as much as we love Lola? Because I really don't know if that's possible..." I know he was half kidding, but I feel the exact same way. I mean, obviously, when we have a kid one day we'll love it so much I can't even comprehend it yet. But for now, Lola has filled our home with so much love and I'm so thankful she's in our lives!

And now y'all probably think I'm fit for a straight jacket crazy but I don't even care :)

Hope you had a fabulous weekend and a fantastic start to the week, friends! Xoxo
