Yesterday, I shared some photos from my family's visit over Thanksgiving, but additional fun thing we did while they were in town was get our Christmas tree! I realize that it was kind of idiotic to get a tree that we're going to have to take down in less than a week before the movers come, but oh well. I love Christmas, and to me, it's not Christmas without a tree. I grew up having an artificial Christmas tree, and would be totally fine with having one, but my husband is one of those people that is absolutely set on always having a real tree. So that's what we have for our past two Christmases together, and it's what we got again this year.
I didn't get any pictures of decorating the tree (mainly because I started feeling sick while we were putting it up and just wanted to get it finished) but I did get a photo of the finished product:
My favorite part about decorating the tree is getting out all of the ornaments we've collected over the years. Pulling them out of the box is like seeing an old friend that you haven't seen in a long time, and I love to reminisce about the memories attached to each one. If you've read my blog for awhile, you know that Cam and I love to travel, and we try to always get a Christmas ornament from wherever we go. It's so much fun to see them all on the tree and think back on the different trips we've taken. Here are some of my favorite recent additions:
Our South Carolina sand dollar that I got at the Christmas market in Greenville last year
Steamboat Springs, CO
Jackson Hole, WY
Yellowstone National Park
The Biltmore in Asheville, NC
Gold aspen leaf from Aspen, CO
Of course, not all of our ornaments are vacation souvenirs...
Bride and Groom
A gift from my mom...of course Lola has to have her picture on the tree!
I'm so glad we were able to get the tree up while my family was here, and of course we watched my favorite holiday movie, Elf, while we were putting it up. I seriously love that movie, and it was a great way to end my family's visit. This week, I plan on drinking some cocoa, baking some cookies, and just enjoying our beautiful tree while I can! Xoxo
How about you? Do you have your tree up yet? Do you get a real tree or do you have an artificial? Do you decorate with different ornaments or do you have a theme for your tree?
