Happy Birthday Lola!

That's right, this weekend our little puppy dog turned one! I cannot believe how quickly a year has flown by. Now I do realize that I'm obsessed with my dog to what is probably an unhealthy level, but please humor me for this post.

Her birthday was Sunday (according to the papers from the Humane Society when we got her) but we celebrated all weekend...because we're cool like that. Saturday morning, we went to brunch at a little place near our apartment and since the weather was BEAUTIFUL, it was great to be able to bring Lola along and sit outside. And she pretty much suckered me to in to giving her half of my breakfast, but I may be a little bit of a pushover. Just maybe.

After breakfast, we took Lola into this great little local pet store to get her a few new toys. I mean, after all what's a birthday without presents?!

Then we spent a longgg time at the dog park letting her run her little puppy heart out and play with the other dogs. I seriously love going to the dog park because I love seeing all the different breeds and how they interact. Plus, the view of the mountains from our dog park is really lovely.

Lola was her social self and had a blast, per usual.

She also got super dirty which resulted in a birthday bath. (She was not such a fan of that part of the weekend let me just tell you...) And then she played with her new toys...and Cam tried to use the Chuck-it indoors...I wouldn't recommend it.

Yesterday afternoon, she got to eat her special little doggie birthday treat that I got for her. I was actually going to bake her a cake for her birthday (like I said, please humor my crazy just for this post) but when I found this cute little Happy Birthday bone, I decided she would probably enjoy it just as much. (Because quite frankly I wasn't too fond of the idea of spending hours baking to end up with something I can't even eat!)

She ended up licking all the frosting off her treat and then proceeded to scarf down the whole thing.

All in all, a pretty solid b-day weekend! :)

I am so thankful that Lola (Beans) Graybeal is ours because she is honestly the best dog ever. If Cam and I would have each had our first choice of breed, she wouldn't have been what we would have picked (he wanted bigger, I wanted smaller) but God totally knew what he was doing sending her into our lives because she is absolutely perfect for us. It's been amazing to watch her grow from a teeny-tiny little runt into a spunky, hilarious, and loving part of our family. We love you Lola! :)

(And if you didn't already think I was completely off the deep end with my Lola-obsession, here are some of my favorite photos of her from the past year!)

  3. SHE IS ADORABLE! My pup just turned one last week, too. It's amazing how much our dogs really are like kids. Glad your little girl had a great 1st birthday :)

Your sweet words make my day! :)
