Weekend Recap

Happy Monday! This weekend was very relaxing, and I'm trying to get back in the swing of things this afternoon. It's kind of overcast and gloomy today though, so I'm so wishing I could take a little afternoon nap right now...

Even though I really should be well rested considering the fact that on Friday all Cam and I did was sleep. Seriously. So lame. Friday night, we were sitting on the couch together after work, and he was showing me some of his pictures from Europe but I started nodding off because I was SO tired. (Keep in mind that this was about 6:15pm at night...) Then Cam dozed off for a little bit, and the next thing I knew it was 10:30pm! I think we were both so tired him from traveling and me from not sleeping very well while he was traveling, so we both just needed some rest. Saturday morning, I got up and went to the downtown Farmer's Market with my friend Stephanie, and that was a lot of fun. I love the Farmer's Market. There is something about getting up on Saturday morning, being outside and walking around, it's just so much more enjoyable than being at the grocery store! I always buy way more stuff than I need to, but usually it's a lot cheaper than Whole Foods, and I feel better that my money is supporting a local farmer. I got some spinach feta bread, a whole chicken, arugula pasta, and some shrimp! And then it just so happened that this weekend, an event called Artisphere was going on in downtown Greenville as well. Artisphere was a street fair with artists from all over the country, kind of a mini Ann Arbor Art Fair. I ended up walking around it after the Farmer's Market, and then I brought Cam back later that day and we walked through it again. The event was sponsored by GE, there were so many neat pieces of art, and it was just great to see everyone out walking around downtown. People in Greenville love a street fair (seriously, they close off Main Street for music and events at least 3 days a week in the summer) and I love that about this city. Greenville has a really great sense of community, and I feel like we always run into people whenever we're downtown, and we've only been here 10 months! Cam and I even got our picture taken for Metromix! (Highlight of my weekend...sad but true haha)

Sunday, Cam and I got up and drove to Gatlinburg, TN (about 2.5 hrs from Greenville) to meet Cam's parents and his brother who are in from Oregon to drive around Smoky Mountain National Park. (Btw, Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge are pretty much the most tourist-y places ever...even though I had been before, I forgot how completely awful they really are...if you've never been to the Smoky Mountains, I highly suggest a visit because they are gorgeous, but the cities are such garbage...sorry to offend anyone, but that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it!) We had a nice day together, had a great dinner in downtown Asheville, and then got back to Greenville for another busy but fun week ahead! Hope everyone is gearing up for a great week as well! :)
