Spinning is not THAT bad...I guess.

So I go through phases with working out. It probably has to do with my somewhat short attention span, but I'll get really in to doing certain things for awhile, and then I get bored and move on to something else (this goes for working out...and just life in general a little I suppose!). Right now, I'm still really really loving Body Attack; it's a great total body conditioning/high intensity cardio workout, but due to when the classes are at my gym, I can usually only make it to that once or twice a week. I've been looking for ways to incorporate more cardio workouts into my week, and since Lola still doesn't seem to understand the concept of going for a run (every time I try to go jogging with her, we'll run for about 100 yards or so then just all of the sudden just run in front of me and stop like we're playing a game...except I always almost trip over her and split my face open...not my idea of a game!), I needed another option for cardio. Which is why I'm back at spinning. I got a little burnt out on going to spin class when we lived in Ann Arbor, so I have purposely been avoiding it. However, there is no question that it gives you a fantastic cardiovascular workout, so I've decided to give it another shot. What I've found to be the key thing with spinning for me is that I he key thing with spinning is that you have to have a good teacher, because if you have a bad teacher, an hour long class can be pure torture. I mean you're riding a bike in place inside for an HOUR. Unless you have a good teacher, you might as well be watching paint dry. But this morning, I got my butt up and went to spin class and the teacher was AWESOME! She had great music, and she gave good direction so that I knew how to push myself to get the most out of the class. I was dripping in sweat by the time it was done, but I wasn't ready to stab my eyes out with boredom, so that was a good feeling. I actually do like getting up and going to spin class in the morning because it starts the day off right, and it's not something that takes a lot of coordination when I'm half awake, however, it's not something that happens often. I've gone the past few weeks though, and I'm starting to like it again, so I'm really trying to go at least once a week in the morning. When you work full time, it leaves limited time to workout, so when I do go to the gym, I want to make sure I'm doing something that's actually a workout and not just spending an hour in gym clothes barely getting my heart rate up. So while I'm sure I will get burnt out on spinning again eventually (and then take a break and then go back to it), for now I am enjoying it! Yay spinning! :)
